Authenticated ORCID + CRediT Roles: One-Page Quick Guide

Effective: November 4, 2025

Purpose:

Capture authenticated ORCID iDs (via ORCID sign-in) and publish NISO CRediT contributor roles on every article. This improves author identification, transparency, indexer deposits, and compliance.

For Authors (Submission Steps):

  • Click Sign in with ORCID on the author details page and approve access (OAuth). Manually typed iDs are not accepted.
  • Assign your CRediT roles (choose all that apply).
  • Identify the guarantor (in terms of overall integrity).
  • Verify ORCID and roles in proofs (HTML and PDF).

Corresponding Author - Pre-Acceptance Checklist:

  • All coauthors have authenticated ORCID iDs (or have been invited to connect).
  • Every author has ≥1 CRediT role; equal contributions, if any, are stated.
  • Affiliations, funding, competing interests, and the guarantor have been finalized.

Editorial/Production Checks:

  • Desk reject if the corresponding author lacks an authenticated ORCID or if any author lacks CRediT roles.
  • Ensure an Author Contributions block appears in HTML and PDF.
  • JATS includes
    • <contrib-id contrib-id-type="orcid">https://orcid.org/…</contrib-id>
    • <role vocab="credit" vocab-identifier="https://credit.niso.org/">…</role>
  • The Crossref deposit includes ORCID IDs and CRediT roles.

Policy Language:

INNOVAPATHTM requires authenticated ORCID iDs (via ORCID sign-in) for the corresponding author and uses the NISO CRediT taxonomy to record contributions for all authors. Typing an ORCID without authentication is not accepted. Author roles are published with the article and deposited with our indexers. Changes to authorship or roles after acceptance require written agreement from all authors and must follow COPE guidance.

Common Issues & Fixes:

  • No ORCID: Create one at orcid.org and connect via the journal link.
  • Owner mismatch: Sign out of shared accounts and re-authenticate.
  • Missing roles: Add during revision before acceptance; otherwise, issue a correction.
  • ORCID: support@orcid.org       CRediT: https://credit.niso.org/

Author Contributions (CRediT) & ORCID Template:

Instructions: Assign one or more CRediT roles to each author and provide authenticated ORCID iDs. This statement is published on the article page and in the PDF.
